There are some things I can't look past.
Such a beautiful film. I thought horror was dead, but this has given me hope. Anyway, I know altering certain events make the movie "not the movie it is" but...
Why would a highly religious, Puritan father not kill Black Phillip as soon as his children begin to make accusations that he is the Devil?" He clearly buys into it at least a little bit..."did you make some unholy bond with that beast?" Or "are you a child of God?" The family was starving. Kill 2 birds with one stone by feeding them and destroying the source. It's not like BP can produce milk. He may just have saved them all by killing that piece of s**t.
Another thing- Even at that point in history, there must have been colonies of people spread throughout New-England. I know 1630 is still very early on, but there had to be more settlements. Massachusetts Bay Colony? If it's not working in the woods, why continue to seclude yourself out there, or even do it to yourself in the first place?
One more thing- I have read that the reason the oldest son does not make more use of the rifle when he gets lost is because it takes an hour to load. Was he not out there longer than an hour? Why not put some scoot in your boot as soon as you see your mutilated dog and get ready to kick some @$$?
