Who was that man Michelle's mom left Joey with?

The one in the beginning of the movie that put Michelle's son in the hospital? That wasn't Michelle's boyfriend, was it?

I think it was her mom's boyfriend.

No, it was her mother's boyfriend. The same boyfriend that broke Joey's arm which caused him to be put into foster care. I have always wondered if he was the one that raped her and got her pregnant rather than the story about the gang rape. Poor Michelle. This movie brought tears to my eyes.

Thanks guys for your replies. Makes more sense now. If he wouldn't have hurt that little boy, I feel like none of this would have ever happened. Not to Michelle at least.

Unrelated to this post, I really think Lifetime did a great job with this story.
