The girls can't escape? Are they brain dead?

There were so many objects in the house that could have been used as a weapon. Then there was the time Michelle had a shovel in her hands when she and Castro were digging in the garden. Are they brain dead or what?
One of the problems is that we have been conditioned to be nice people, not hurting others. This has to change. Violence is acceptable when it come to self defence.
