Why bother making this movie? For what reason?

I'm not a troll or hater....just a big movie fan. WHY WAS THIS MADE?

1. You already know they get together. This isn't like the film Titanic where you know it sinks. That movie created a bunch of fictionalized characters that you grew to care about.

2. You can't dramatize this type of event. It's a first date. They met. They went to a rally. They went to a movie. They walked. Yawn.

3. There are so many better Obama movies to make. How about a movie about his perspective during the 2008 election? How about you create a semi-reality movie about Obama in NYC or Chicago as a young man and take some creative license and blend real-life and fictional composite characters? Hell, you could even create a female love interest for Barack that is not Michelle and have them break up at the end of the film. People would really talk about that - Michelle is loved but viewers could also grow attached to this fictional love interest and wonder what if? That generates discussion, commentary and so forth.

4. What exactly is the drama in the film? Two people we already know end up together in real life go on a date. Anddd....what else? Is there a Hitchcock-esque moment where Barack gets ketchup on his shirt and suddenly Michelle may not want to go on date two?

Again, just some thoughts here. I really think they could have used the money for this film and made a much better, different film about Obama.

Flat out, it is a propaganda film. I will leave it to you to understand what propaganda is, and why it is used.

Propaganda, as any movie about Obama (or any elected POTUS) would be, without a proper amount of time passing from their being out of office.

A movie like this, while he is still in office, is little different than what a dictatorship like North Korea would do.

It really seems like this. I just heard on Conan this movie was made and couldn't believe it lol.

The problem is that it pushes the personality cult further. "They" want elections to be about a fantasy, an idea of a person or a couple instead of policies and actual issues.

It is propaganda and a further blow to democracy. Soon we'll have obvious actors simply playing the role as a front man.

This is the kind of drivel you get when elections have become little more than an American Idol contest.

When over 65% of voters cannot even name the three branches of government, they will be easily swayed by propaganda.

I know I know! It's the president, the senate and the media, right?

so what? Movies are made based on true stories all the time.
2. You can't dramatize this type of event.
Says who? Critics really enjoyed it. Small scale movies are made all the time... "Before Sunrise", "My Dinner With Andre", "Locke"...
3. There are so many better Obama movies to make.
This is the story Richard Tanne wanted to tell. It was his work as an artist. Who the *beep* are you so dictate his decisions?
4. What exactly is the drama in the film?
See #2, or just see the movie. Maybe you'll find out.

I find Oscar Bait infinitely more interesting than ticket bait

These conspiracy theory morons are everywhere. I don't think they know the meaning of the word "propaganda."
