How to crush an organization such as Scientology?

There must be a way Governments can intervene. Too bad the IRA backed down

What I gather from the documentary is that many people know Scientology has a history of abuse yet is virtually untouchable and has amassed such wealth and can spend most to death, i.e. like Big Tobacco.

And now people have gone on camera saying how destructive Scientology is yet they continue to operate.

In a way Scientology reminds me of the North Korean regime

Not a bad comparison. Both tobacco and Scientology are legal as well...even if most folks know they are bad ideas.

A few years ago, the FBI tried to investigate them for human trafficking, but the investigation stalled.

Unfortunately this is one of the dangers of a free society. Yes, I know it sucks but I will take all these kooky cults and religions over the government telling me what to do with my life.

I'm ambivalent about getting the government involved in "crushing" organizations...once you open that door, who knows where it will lead?

And yes, it is too bad the IRS backed down (although I don't think the "IRA" would have!), because that would have been the best way to hurt $cientology...in the purse-strings.

But regardless of what crazy cult is around, there will always be gullible and easily-led people looking for some group or figurehead to "show them the way", and plenty of con-men and others willing to take advantage of them for their own profit. That's human nature, and I don't think that will ever be stamped out.

Well said.

I don't like the idea of some government entity overstepping constitutional boundaries, but if you keep exposing what a radical group does and believes, then that will destroy them. Just look at how far tobacco sales have plummeted since big tobacco business practices and the dangers of consuming tobacco have been exposed.
