Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath premieres Nov. 29 at 10 p.m.

Guessing the show will be nothing like Going Clear, seems the Scientology response has a bit of deja vu though.....many times over.

Remini interviewed former Scientology members about their experiences with the church. "Fight for your family. Fight for your daughters, your sons," says the actress, who executive produced the eight-part series. "Let's get to the abuses. Let's get to the abortions. Wake up."

In response, a rep for the Church of Scientology told E! News, "Desperate for attention with an acting career stuck in a nearly decade-long tailspin, Leah Remini needs to move on with her life. Instead, she seeks publicity by maliciously spreading lies about the Church using the same handful of bitter zealots who were kicked out years ago for chronic dishonesty and corruption and whose false claims the Church refuted years ago, including through judicial decisions."

The church certainly likes to take an “it’s just a bunch of sour grapes” approach.

reply

Well since Leah just recently left....seems we will at least be seeing of the sour grapes crew on her show.

Just a reminder for anyone who wants to set their DVR or tune in tomorrow night (A & E).

Did you watch? Not exactly Going Clear, but very interesting nonetheless. IF anything Leah gets props for not dogging Scientology 100%.

reply

Just watched a few minutes and it seemed overly dramatized – I’ll have to give it another chance.

reply

Maybe part of the lack of drama is that this is the best that Scientology could come up with in their hit piece named website attack on her.....real boring. The woman must be a saint.

I've seen the first 2 episodes, will watch the 3rd tomorrow. Nothing new, at least for me, but it certainly drives home the fact that the cult is pretty damned destructive. But, if you've done any reading on them, that's not a revelation, just reinforcement.

I've watched all of the episodes so far and think it's quite good. I think Remini does a great job of letting the survivors tell their stories. She's pissed and wants to expose what's really happening in Scientology. Hats off to her and Mike Rinder for going after this cult.

Lots of different ways to take in what Scientology is about. Pretty "clear" that they have one POed Leah though, wondering how she bought into what was going on. Props to her for letting them show the same clip of her claiming that Scientology was the way to save the world. She at least ain't hiding what she thought in the past.....and that makes it all the more powerful.
