Quite a good movie!

I have to say I didn't expect much, but I ended up thoroughly enjoying this.

It is strange, to say the least.. but satisfying..

Two thumbs up!

It has a great picture but I couldn't past the wimpy kid. Could he even do one push-up? when he finally makes it back to his tribe and is looking up at his father (Ryan Hurst lookalike) he looked just like a tiny Chihuahua, I laughed out loud.

I gave it a 5/10

I felt the same way. It was a bit miscast. They could've had a more muscular young actor. He was portraid weak from the beginning of the movie until the end of it. There was no development in his character.

I think he is everything but weak.

Thanks for the info.

A good movie for adolescents and some of the visuals were appealing.

I read that as appalling.. lol, appealing.

I think it resonates with more the softer heart.. but that could be the valium talking.

I think your entire post is "the valium talking". Do you also perform the thorazine shuffle?

Saw this movie recently, and like others have said, the cinematography is quite good, there are some breathtaking shots in this movie. I bet this would have been great to view on the big screen at the theater.

But the story is kind of ho-hum and a little far-fetched. I didn't mind the main character showing some reluctance to kill animals and "tough it out" in a time when humans were hunter/gatherers. However, I don't think he could have survived in harsh weather like that after getting wet and walking in that blizzard and dealing with lack of food/nutrition. Another thing about this scene rubbed me the wrong way, I suppose their location is somewhere in modern day Europe or north America, maybe northern asia, the thing is, this is like sub-freezing arctic weather he's dealing with. I just don't think he could have pulled it off.

Still a decent movie though, and I liked it as a backdrop fictional tale of how dogs eventually became domesticated. That part of the story is good and almost leaves the door open for a sequel that dives deeper into dog and human history.

Anyhow, I'll give it a 6.0 out of 10.
