This thing had to have been cut down in the editing room

In addition to some of the other problems, including the real bison somehow getting killed on set, I feel like once the wolf and boy are together- the movie just goes from one big scene to the next- nothing is ever all that effective cause nothing is ever given time to breathe. With all the release date changes, I have to assume they cut it down in the editing room.

I'm right there with you. This movie needed to be fleshed out. Seemed like it took a good while for him to meet the wolf, then just badda bing, badda boom, they're bonded, then catching a pig, oh she got a fish! Watch out for thin ice! Doh, I'm sick...we're struggling...aaand we're back home.
This is one of those movies where you want to live and breathe in the moment...you're taken to a far away time, the setting is beautiful...you're enraptured, sucked in. You've escaped into the setting. It could have been a half hour longer or so and been fine by me.
