No one speaks French?
Why don't the characters speak French? Or why didn't they cast French actors? They speak and read Latin at times. Then only English. Thought that was odd. This come up in any interviews?

sharenot even english with french accents. reminds me of dicaprio in iron mask
the other actors at least used french accents
leo refused, probably cuz they wouldnt be speaking english at all
I thought it was a pity they casted this as they did. When so much attention to detail was put into the rest of the picture. We got these cheeseball American actors stumbling around. Kept shooing any sense of authenticity out the door.
shareThat movie is made with an American audience in mind.
We can be glad they had French names and the movie took place in France.
Expecting Americans to watch movies in a foreign language and read subtitles is absurd, don't be ridiculous.
To be honest it's still felt jarring tho' when they call each other in French names, but then continue to speak in regular English.
Idk, maybe also translate the names into John and Jack...
I think you don't watch much film then. For example the well received and popular film Inglorious Basterds had mostly non-English dialog.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361748/trivia?ref_=ttfc_ql_trv_1
"The dialogue is in English for approximately 42% of the running time, in German for 28%, in French for 22%, and in Italian for 1%. There is a 44 minute stretch in which less than 9 minutes of dialogue are in English, including 25 straight minutes in which no English is spoken."
Yes, I do not watch many movies and I am wrong about my previous statement because of a single movie and on top a Tarantino one who is everything but mainstream.
Meanwhile there is an UNLIMITED amount of movies that prove me right.
