So Jaime is (SPOILERS)

...adopted.

This is definitely a transition season.

The series is obviously trying to go in a different direction.

I think it explains a lot why he has always felt like an outcast, why he goes against the family. On a subconscious level he probably felt like he never fit in. Not to mention if his birth father was a psycho he would have inherited those genes as well.

Not sure if the casting of Wes Bentley was intentional but it kind of makes sense. There's not much resemblance between him and the rest.

reply

Well apparently they didn't care about his dental hygiene, because Kasey and Beth have perfect teeth.
Jaime, not so much.

reply

care about his dental hygiene
how so?

reply

It's my attempt at comedy, but

Look at Kasey's and Beth's teeth.
Hell look at Rip's.

Their teeth are perfect, straight, white.

Jaime's teeth are crooked. He was not afforded braces like the others.

reply

So they say. But yet it's Lee that is never in the family photos. Curious.

I absolutely HATE this plot twist. It feels cheap and easy

reply

You are not alone, especially since they are now trying to say that John never loved Jamie and that's why he didn't want him to follow in the footsteps.

reply

Exactly it couldn't have been that John was just a lousy father who played favorites with his children. We go back, retcon, and now........now in a soap opera like twist reveal "it was really because Jamie was never John's kid"

Same as it couldn't have been that Beth was just a lousy person who treats everyone bad. We had the reveal that Jamie is the cause of Beth's anger because he MADE her get that abortion.

It's like writer/creator Taylor Sheridan doesn't want his characters to take any responsibility for his actions

Also Jamie "the whipping boy" scenes are getting reeeeeeally old

I'm just seeing how it plays out. Sure, Beth and John may be horrible to Jaime, but Kayce is not. In fact, I noticed Kayce doesn't talk to Beth hardly at all, so makes me wonder if there is some beef between them as well. Last time Beth and him had a decent conversation, she was telling Kayce to get off the ranch. Maybe Sheridan does plan on making Beth the Cersei Lannister of the show, he's just taking his time. But I will admit, if he makes Jaimie the so called villain, then I will be disappointed. This will end up being just a rip off Dallas and Jaimie is JR.

ALL parents play favorites with their kids --- They just can't admit it

So John and the wife adopt Jamie a couple years after the 1st born and a couple years before Beth, Beth as the 1st born female would have an edge over 2nd son, and Kaycee was the baby so would have been equal to the 1st born

As 2nd son the deck was stacked against Jaime a little anyway -

But John could see something and applied to Harvard for the kid so he wasn't dumb but just wanted to be a cowboy but went on to become an excellant lawyer AND did a lot of good for the Ranch untill 1st son died, and Beth came back
