Gianna's father is a horrible person

He was using his daughter to get back at and undermine the mother; "don't listen to what your mother says," "we're just going to have fun," saying studying doesn't matter, and so on; of course it's fine to have fun and the relax, but Gianna's mother's expectations were not unreasonable, and in undermining her desire to help her daughter do her best, he also deprived his daughter of her right to shine and to be herself, and instead was a pawn in exercising his obvious contempt for her mother. I feel bad for Gianna. She's clearly smart but will always be inhibited from flourishing if her father uses her like that for his own satisfaction.

Ugh! Yes! Yes! 100% Yes!!!
He's clearly just a vindictive a**hole who is using his daughter to get back at his ex-wife. He was terrible the entire time they were on the show, but those exit interviews were the most telling for me. Gianna's mom's attitude was, "We should probably have gotten it together for our daughter's sake," and her terrible, terrible father was like, "Yeah no. We hate each other, so that wasn't going to happen." Just no remorse whatsoever. He's the WORST!

I don't think so............Gianna didn't even seem to care or want to be there in the first place, Her Father was chilled and layed back the whole time. I also don't think it's fair to judge someone based on a few clips off of a T.V show.

Gianna's mother was trying to teach her the principles of the marshmallow test "you need to exercise self control or discipline to get what is better for you in the long term, that requires hard work and studying".

Gianna's father completely undermined her mother by letting Gianna give in to instant gratification, slacking on her studies and resulting in her elimination and zero chance of that $100,000.

Given his behavior I'm not surprised they're divorced, he could only make money by being lucky, his wife is of a higher caliber mentally than he is. Within 5 years Gianna will no longer be "smart", she'll "socialize" into an average girl, screaming at Beiber with zero math ability left since you can't stay smart if you're lazy.
