Arnav

Jesus, this kid is insufferable. He gets a 9/10 and ties for second place in current events, and then whines about wanting to be "better than everyone else." Let's hope he matures a whole lot before he enters the workforce.

He is only 10 yrs old and his parents are putting extreme pressure on him

He's too emotionally immature to participate in this type of televised competition. They should raise the age to 12 or do better psychological screening of the kids they choose for this show. It's not at all entertaining to watch some of these kids having meltdowns.

Adrian is also 10, and he's super composed. Of course, he's kind of like a 40-year-old in a 10-year-old's body! :)

Also, Sam is 12 and he freaks out in almost scary ways (threatening to jump, etc.). Some of these kids are just emotional disasters, and it is concerning regarding their ability to function in the real world someday. Sadly, I know some people in their 20s who are just about as emotionally functional. *Sigh*

Of course, the cameras love to capture/play up the meltdowns.

It's part of the Asian culture of seeking perfection. When I would come home with a 99 / 100, my Dad would ask "why wasn't it 100??? What have you missed?" Contrast this with my white husband, when my kid comes home with 19 / 100 she gets "good job, but you can do better". If I ever had a score that low I would have been grounded for the rest of my life.

That's why Arnav feels like 9/10 is a fail, because to him, it is. The bar is just set higher, and the expectations are different, that's all.

Could you have found a more racist, ignorant source to support your argument? [sarcasm] Indians ARE Asian as are any people who originate from the continent of Asia. If you choose to limit your application of "Asian" to one region of the continent (southeast) and to one set of physical characteristics you may do so, but don't correct others who know what they are talking about.

Ha, ha, yeah, I didn't even bother to reply to that one. I figured it was troll speak.
