I guess that really doesn't matter in this competition.

How can they fault the kids when it sounds like the guy is messing up a lot when reading the questions to them as well?

I was going to start a thread on this topic. Some of the pronunciations are way off. But if the study material that they are given does not include pronunciation indicators then I guess it shouldn't count. These kids don't actually know this material. They memorize it from sudy packets.

That's the major problem with this show. These kids don't actually have the knowledge (unlike on, say, Jeopardy). They are just regurgitating facts with zero context, for the most part. Once in a while, they are slightly more challenged (like with the word scrambles, spelling backwards, etc.). But, yeah, this show really has zero to do with displaying actual genius.
