Why do they keep saying this show was about Iron Fist? It's basically Daredevil Season 3. (spoilers)

Watching it, the show is very much a Daredevil-driven story. The Hand are Daredevil villains and they first popped up on his show. All the stuff dealing with Black Sky, the giant hole in the ground, Elektra, Madame Gao, the Hand's gateway plot, The Chaste, Midland Circle, etc was set up between seasons 1 and 2. In fact, this show had the same writers as Daredevil 2 so they purposefully set things up for Defenders. Aside from that, you have Stick dying, Elektra's plot being resolved, and Matt seemingly dying at the end, meaning that anyone who watches Daredevil has to watch Defenders for anything to make sense (conversely, if someone wanted to just watch Jessica Jones, they could skip Defenders and not miss anything since there is no impact on her show).

Even the way the story flows has Daredevil at the center of everything. He comes up with the plans, he gets the biggest storyarc, he's the one who keeps coming to everyone's rescue, and he's the only character who knows what's going on as he has the most experience. There are two big fight scenes where all the other Defenders are fighting in the background while the scene focuses on Matt and Elektra. Even when it comes to supporting casts, Stick, Foggy, and Karen all play important roles and get a lot of screentime. Misty and Colleen are important in the climax but otherwise disappear early on and they are the only supporting characters from their respective shows. Trish, Malcolm, and Hogarth show up from Jessica Jones, but they mostly just have sporadic cameos here and there.

Anyway, I don't get the criticism that this is an Iron Fist story. Aside from the Hand needing Danny's Iron Fist to open the gateway, he isn't very important to the story and halfway through the series, he's captured and doesn't meet back up with the team until the final fight.
