Eight episodes instead of usual 13 confirmed

Great news if you ask me.

My guess is that the budget for this one is the same as for DD, JJ, Luke Cage... which is ~40 mil, so they will have more to work with per episode.

(the 40 mil figure comes from the 200 mil $ that was allocated for five seasons - DD, JJ, Luke, Iron Fist and The Defenders)

It was always going to be be 8 episodes.

The Netflix plan was 60 episodes, spread out between 4 shows at 13 episodes each and an 8 episodes Defenders.

Sure, we got lucky with Season 2 of Daredevil, but it's not new news.

It's hot... but not as hot as the night Johnny Viti got married...

I actually think that DD, JJ, LC and IF should only be 10 eps each. I think less would be more in this situation. DD season 1 draaaaagged. I liked Season 2 much better, probably because the Punisher and Electra were there to give it some much needed least half balls.

I just hope that if they do add more seasons to the individual shows they have crossovers with other heroes. Like Daredevil showing up in Iron fist.

What I think should happen is each show debuts with 13eps giving you a good length of time to know the characters. Then each season after should be 8eps. That way Netflix could release more shows each year. ie 2x13=26eps or 3x8=24eps (saving them money on 2eps and giving us more stories). Or each year a debut series and 2 follow on seasons ie 13eps and 2x8eps so 29eps a year 3 more eps than before but easily budgetable.
