What happened to the 1997 family? Spoiler!

Ok, so alien mom and her son are travelling around USA, killing people pretending that the house is haunted. They always leave one survivour. Who then has to take the blame.

They have human form, and moves into houses. This is done so that the young ones shall learn how to control themselves back home, so they don't go around acting all psycho.

So why wasn't alien mother and son among the people reported missing from the house in 1997?
The only ones missing was a family, mom, dad and two children. They were abducted, for some reason, and the housekeeper did not tske the deal.

The aliens don't usually abduct anyone (Amityville family was found and the four murdered thugs in this movie were also found)

The housekeeper (Angelas mother) survived, and she was blamed for their disappearance.

Who was the man hanging from the ceiling with sliced wrists?

It not the same family all the time. The mother explains that they have to raise their young in the earth world to until they can control their powers to keep stuff like that happening in their world. So I would assume that the mom dad and two children were the aliens from 17 years ago.

Ok, I thought of that, but it somehow did not make sense.
Then again, alien travellers dont make much sense either ;)

If the family were aliens, then they would have lived many years on earth, since they are missing. Somone must be missing them.

And they haunt their own house just to scare the housekeeper?

So this movie is about aliens,well this is one movie I want be watching.I can't stand that fake alien garbage crap...Get real Hollywood?

Well it never said anything about the mother taking the blame legally. She knew something was up with the family, though, and later killed herself.

Lots did not make sense. No one knows what happened to the first family. Were they aliens since they disappeared? If so who were they killing off? Never said anything about missing people before the family vanished. So that is a wtf.

The murdered thugs were found by Angela but will the cops? If so, simple forensics will tell she did not kill any of them. Heck observation alone will tell them! Sure she had a knife, but not the one used to impale Jacob; and she sure did not drop a chandelier or hold a nearly grown man under scalding hot water!

The only mystery, as in 17 years before, is where did the mother and kid go. Once again the owners vanish.

I doubt she'll spend time in jail. More like a psychiatric hospital.

Still a messy resolve. It was an ending but it left more questions about what actually happened to the first family than answers.
