With these kinds of "mystery" shows, 9 times out of 10 it’s always the rich old white man or men and crooked police and/or politicians that cover up the crime.

I am loving the show.
Cannot understand the awful reviews given on here.
Far from boring I find it intriguing, subtle and mysterious. Best of all I cannot guess the plot!! Thankyou writers. I think the lead roles are all great but Devecki is sensational. First Ive seen of her. How eefeeshing to have a complex and nuanced actor.
I rarely like Aussie productions..its true that we often lean toward character or lines the actors cant make ring true.
Most of the cast do a great job here of being quite natural.
I want to know more about forest dude in the tree.
As for my guess on plot...
Although last ep leaned toward ufo activity
I currently think it has been sold off as a nuclear waste dumping ground.

I love this show, too, more so each episode when more pieces of the puzzle are revealed.

Can't say I like the lead character, though. In fact, I've never disliked any lead the way I do with this one. She has no personality, never cracks a smile and the show seems much better when she's not on scene.

Not that any of the other characters are very appealing (apart from maybe Fergus) but I wouldn't describe Anna as "complex and nuanced", more just miserable.

Agree with nuclear waste dumping ground theory. Can't wait for next episode.

I'm in absolute love with is show. I have to rewatching the entire series before even commenting on it. Australia is certainly putting out stunning, fascinating shows. If there's an Aussie Amazon channel, count me in.

The 'mystery' had better have a good explanation when its resolved. There are TWO elements to it as far as I can see. A mundane human one, with the 'stuff' theyve hidden up on Sullivans Ridge. Who/what that is suggests somethign Toxic, and now its something Toxic and Radioactive. So a standard 'weve hidden the waste for a price where no one will find it'. The wilderness is huge, so you'd need to hide a f#ckton of waste for it to start infencting the local people (weird rashes, cancer, nonhuman blood etc)

However the internal discussions of the people involved (old copper/timberyard guy and his foreman) suggests they DONT KNOW who killed the girls . So if they dont know, who did the killing(s)?

There is also a supernatural element. The weird moss, moths, lights, ufos, radio signals,dogs who dont like mother sullivans place and who go mad and bite their owners all at the same time. I like it, but its not very coherent right now. its more 'weird spooky stuff'.

Yeah..
That is why I went for nuclear waste dumping..
It causes anomalies like overgrowing moss.
Whoever is doing the massive dumping has giant earthmover with night lights looking like ufo's. D

Or..you know...could actually BE ufo's. Not long til we find out I guess.

Yeah I'm starting to think that there is toxic/nuclear waste being dumped or has been dumped up at mother sullivans ridge. But then it doesn't exactly explain how the blood sample Anna had tested came back as not human, toxic waste is nasty stuff but I don't think it can make blood become non human. Also in the last ep there was that fight between Chloe's dad and the other guy at the mill and them panicking about the cops crawling all over the ridge and one of them said to the other (not sure which one) "what did we bury up there" I don't think even they know what the hell they have allowed to be buried on that ridge.

I figure that the huge radiation amounts in the area have caused the 'alien' blood results. The toxicity morphs the cell structure somehow.

o what about the other little anomalies like the calls from Gillian to her mum, the distorted radio calls, Fergus finding some parts of a boat that sank, etc. Things that you couldn't really attribute to nuclear material.

Dutch seems to be putting the pieces together but we already know he's a baddy (and a scumbag to boot lol).

It's all very X Files-ish, very atmospheric and intriguing. It gets better each week.

Fakked if I know! This show is going to frustrate me like The Returned. All mystery and no pay off ... you watch and you watch and you WATCH ... right to the very bitter end, hoping to get some answers and ... you get none.

Indeed, there had better be answers to everything or there will be a lot of p1ssed of viewers! But the trouble with shows about psychotics like Anna is that you never know what is real and what they are imagining. But a lot of the weird stuff is happening while she's out of scene.

ok, so much happened in last ep. I don't know what to make of it!
thoughts people?
the noise over the cops car..the electro magnetic energy..the change to adam..
that reminded me of another series..the one where they uncovered an ancient mammoth and the whole town got infected with the old bug..they turned mad/violent etc..what was its name? will try and find it.
anyhoo..
that was really well done and reaallllly creepy!!
what is that large underground tunnel for?
moving the illegal material?
is that what was in the plane that crashed?
are there 2 things..
both nuclear waste AND ufo activity?
are the trees themselves fighting back?
why is tree guy needing to inject human blood????

I'm thinking that Jens ("tree guy" lol) has become infected, just like the older lady doctor did when she was testing Anna's mother's blood, and just like the kid Kade did too - from being in close proximity to... something or other.

But Jens (now David Owen?) has figured out that by injecting himself with blood from others, he can live a bit longer. Now we find out that the younger lady doctor (Fergus' friend) is helping Jens to do this, it seems that she knows more than she is letting on!

Dutch is a very confusing character (on purpose, I'm sure). He suspects something weird is going on up there, yet he didn't collect any evidence or confront Holloway & Grayson when he saw them disposing of Travis' body. Certainly he is complicit in Travis' death because he tipped off the other loggers about Travis raping Lize - so Dutch wanted Travis dead - which probably explains why he didn't apprehend the two of them - but why would he want Travis dead?

I keep thinking that Dutch is 'too obviously a bad guy to really be the bad guy' so I try to keep an open mind about him - but after what he did to cause Travis' death, I'm not so sure any more.

And as for the noise over the cop car - it was obviously very painful for them both, yet they just drove off without investigating further...

So much weirdness!!

Re the girl/nurse or doc..giving tree guy blood..I dont believe she knows he shoots it up!
I thought that she believes he needs it for his investigative studies. Now You have me thinking otherwise! Good grief!

Honestly im beginning to wonder if the main players in town, the ones running things so to speak are even human anymore maybe at some point in the past they were but whatever Jens/David has been doing to them has changed them on a cellular level. Dutch is clearly losing it but being an outsider I don't think that whatever has affected everyone else has touched him, I think he is just completely freaked out and in the last few eps has gone from the tough nothing can shake me guy to a scared little boy (especially around Anna).
Fergus is still completely oblivious as to whats really going on and needs to pull his head out of his arse and wake up.
The other person who I can't figure out if she is just weird or if there is something very very wrong with her is Lize. There is just something not quite right about that girl and its been that way right from ep 1.

I don't think it's blood he's shooting up with because it's not red and they're different shape/size vials. Unless he's added something to it and changed vials. Weird, very weird tho.

Hmm I dunno - why would Dutch care about Renae? Yes he was having an affair with her sister Barb, but I don't think that would make him so emotionally involved that he would want to plot murder?

So ... glad there are others on a live thread wondering what's going on.

I don't think Anna is psychotic ... just traumatised and can remember only flashes.
Did you notice the girl in the tunnel saw a bicycle .. must have been Gillian's.

Yes, toxic waste is one issue ... it's seeping into their water supply and Anna's father is complicit in covering it up. Somewhat horrifying revelation about daddy-dearest. He told Jens/David Owen he's poisoning the townspeople. David Owens survives an incident in Antarctica that likely involves same toxic substance ... did he get away and crash the plane in Kettering forest, bringing this weird sh*t with him? Yes, the blood injections are keeping him alive?

Not sure what Dutch is seeing through his goggles .. a bunch of wandering dead forest people who aren't as lucky as Jens/David Owens?

What I find annoying in many weirdo shows like this, is that although bizarre things happen, characters respond in even more bizarre ways. Green moss growing on everyone, whatevs. Two cops hear weird noise in the sky, carry on. Dutch catches two fellahs burying Travis, does nothing. Anna connects David Owen to Jens, dad locks her up. Honestly, if all these miserable-as-skunk people sat in a circle and listened to one another, they might be able to pull their heads out of their a*ss long enough to realise there is something extremely dangerous in their midst. But noooo, they all do their own thing, experience deep mistrust of one another and continue to put themselves in harms way. Ah, but that is the stuff of horror. Characters walk right into their own doom.

As I said before, I'm only watching in the slim hope the mystery will be revealed. Hope I'm not made into a sucker and get zero payoff after watching these miserable people.

ok here is a far out theory.
What if whatever the bug is,it changes you so much that you can only be seen through those goggles?
So that would mean Gillian might still be alive, but kind of ghostly..and invisible without the night vision spectrum.

No, that was Roy Macy, Anna's dad speaking to Jens. Max Holloway, Chloe's dad, was busy burying Travis' dead body.
hee hee well I'm glad you don't find the characters miserable ... but I sure do. It's purposeful of course. Contributes to the whole mood of the series. But I don't think I've seen anyone smile, let alone laugh, except poor Chloe. Your theory might be right about the night vision goggles revealing humans affected by the bug ... we shall see. Pretty much everything is up for grabs at this point. I hope Gillian is still alive. It's interesting that Anna can hear Gillian calling to her to help her. This might be a memory or it might be a ghost call of sorts.

Just wondering about the exact nature of the agreement Roy made with Jens. Can't be supply of blood cos that's only just started with the health people turning up to investigate. Who (or what!) is Jens/David Owen, anyway? Dominic said he couldn't have got out of Antarctica because there was no ship for 6 months and it's too far to fly (in a plane or chopper, anyway).

Is it two stories now? Jens plus toxic waste that Craig and Max know about? Or is it still one? Can't wait for the last episode, but there's a heck of a lot that needs tying up. And why is somebody trying to frame Anna...?

Too many questions, my head hurts... lol

It was the blue Jaguar, so it was Anna's trunk - or 'boot' as we call it here in Aus :-)
It was a bloodied digging implement of some sort I think. I don't know what the proper name for it is, but it's like a hoe, but with a curved blade. We, the viewers, I'm pretty sure are supposed to be as baffled as Dutch is, at this point.
