Random thoughts after watching

I didn't think the movie was terrible. Far from it, but also far from being of good quality too. I wouldn't mind a sequel, if only to reveal if the trucker (or his truck) is supernatural or not. As far as my thoughts/issues with the movie:

- There's no way a tow truck - an older one at that - could keep pace with a newer model Mustang. A Mustang of that model should have at least 400 horsepower, bare minimum. An old tow truck? It would most likely have more focus on torque than horsepower, though I'm no expert on the engines of those things. I know Emily was able to pass the trucker and gain some distance at points in the film, but the fact that the trucker was able to keep up or even catch up to her once she'd high-tailed it without stopping is a huge suspension of disbelief.

- While I'm on the topic of the Mustang, how good was that baby's mileage? Jeez. For a 2014 GT (what I'm assuming the one in this film was by the looks of it), 18 city and 24 highway is its general range. For most of the film, Emily is pushing that thing upwards of 100MPH. That's going to seriously decrease fuel efficiency, and I only remember her filling up once near the beginning of the movie and once near the end. That still doesn't seem like enough to be going as fast as she was for as long as she was.

- Another issue with the Mustang. Near the end, the trucker rammed it twice, enough to thrust Emily back into her seat with some force. When the camera reveals the back end of the car, there's not even a single scratch. It's only when she reverses into the trucker to push him off the cliff does the car become noticeably damaged (and that may have been CGI, I couldn't tell from the distance).

- The scene at the diner was nonsense. Neither Emily nor Leslie thought it appropriate to ask if anyone had the ability to call the police? Even if the trucker was in the diner at that time, it would've been suspicious of him to try and sneak out once the cops were called; even if the cops showed up and questioned him, he'd still have to come up with some kind of story to counter what the girls would say to incriminate him. Also, you'd think she could have at least asked the waitress if she'd seen that tow truck around or knew who it belonged to.

- When the sheriff had Emily pulled over, him being unable to hear a heavy diesel truck plowing toward him at full speed was beyond idiotic. The highway was dead silent. Also, and I'm not sure if this is all over the country or not, but most law enforcement officers around these parts come up to the passenger side window nowadays largely in part to real life incidents like this. It's a lot safer to stand next to the shoulder of the road rather than right next to passing traffic. I guess the writer(s) needed some way to kill him off, though, however contrived it was.

- What kind of "town" was that where Emily stopped to get gas at night and make a phone call after the sheriff had been killed? The station attendant said there was only one phone...in the entire area? Or just that station? It's hard to believe it's the entire area and there's only one phone for everyone that lives there, even if it's just a couple families.

- A lot of people have already brought this one up, but why didn't Emily just turn around and get back onto the main road once she realized the trucker wasn't messing around and was a serious threat to her livelihood? Not only would it keep her from going the same damn direction as him, but it would give her back her cell phone service that she had before taking that side passage. The fact that she continued to go in the same direction on that road was baffling. I don't care how late I'm going to be for some event, I'm turning around and taking a road where I at least had cell service rather than taking my chances and hoping the trucker just disappears.

- Did Emily simply survive and the trucker moved on? Is that what the ending implied? I didn't see the Mustang in the row of familiar cars at the end, so I'm left to assume she simply got back to her life and the trucker went on with his shenanigans. How the hell would she explain that story to anyone, like Leslie's family/friends? For that matter, you'd think there'd be a federal investigation after the disappearance of a sheriff, the obvious destruction of a gas station with at least one witness, and the disappearances of several other people.

Cena doesn't overcome any odds. He's a wrestler with a God Mode cheat on.

--Also, it is NOT that easy to hook up a car to be towed (when the guy backs up to tow the cops car). I mean, come on.
