Richard Matheson

Why Isn't Richard Matheson getting Writer-Credit? Spielberg's 'Duel' was based on Matheson's short-story, so even though this is going to have a souped-up Mustang instead of an underpowered Pinto - they're both from the same source.

FYI: In the original 1971 film it wasn't the awesome Ford Pinto, it was an equally awesome red Plymouth Valiant. My family had each of those vehicles and they were wonderful, reliable... Ah, who am I kidding? They were both crap.

An excellent point. Watching this now and though it's not a shot by shot remake (it would be pretty hard to copy Spielberg's camera moves for anyone --- and he had an extremely seasoned crew to boot) but it does steal liberally from Richard Matheson's script for the original as well as his short story often word for word.

After seeing the trailer, I actually came here to IMDB to see if Matheson was credited. What a blatant rip-off of his work.

please, don't give Matheson a credit for this. His name should not even be mentioned regarding this horrendous piece of trash. I'm sorry but I love Richard Matheson, and in this 'film' there is no story that even resembles his writing.

In the original theatrical release of The Terminator there was a shaky, obviously tacked on credit at the end of the movie: Acknowledgment to the works of Harlan Ellison.

I believe they "smoothed it out" for home video.
