Plot being kept under wraps?

The script was on the black list. You can look up what it's about. I've read the script and it's pretty good. Not sure McG is the right director. But hopefully he does a good job

Is the script PG-13 or R?

reply

Well, just because the script is one way, doesn't mean that the movie will end up the same. The script I read would have to be rated R, but if the studio wants it to be PG-13 then they'll rewite it.

I just came across a review for the script. This sounds way too dark for PG-13. They would have to turn it into a completely different movie. Plus, it's probably going to be pretty low-budget. So the R rating won't hurt the gross too much.

Even with McG being involved, I'm pretty sure this will be an R.

Can you describe how the script is and what the plot is. Please.

The script reads kind of like a horror comedy in the vein of Jennifer's Body. Focuses on a young kid who's in love with his regular babysitter, a girl in her late teens. They have a cool, friendly dynamic, and one night when he's in bed and she's looking after the house while his parents are away, the kid sneaks downstairs and sees her having a party with her friends downstairs. He spies and eventually witnesses the 'party' turn out to be a ritualistic murder by the group, with the babysitter as the ringleader. The rest of the movie is kind of this kind outsmarting and trying to escape the teens as they all come to kill him, it gets pretty violent, always kind of funny though. It struck me as Home Alone meets Scream.

I disagree about the script. It started great, but by the reveal time it kind of got weak for me.
It also felt more like action than horror to me.
Was it funny? Sure, but most of the funny stuff is pretty hard to translate to the screen as it was inner monologue.
I don't know, maybe with re-writes they'll be able to flesh out some of the characters and relationships. I did like the epilogue though. I think that story would be way more interesting to be told.
