Why all the hate for choppers?

It's not like they're cheating. I'm not a chopper and I understand the frustration of not being able to play your own game, but isn't it the correct strategy to not let your opponent play their game? I'm just saying.

I didn't detect any "hate" for choppers. The way I saw it they were just stating facts. Pro tennis players do the same thing, throw in a few slice backhands then try a topspin forehand winner. The way I interpreted it if you are not very young and very quick being a chopper can lengthen your elite playing career.

You're right that it wasn't a big part of the documentary. It's also interesting that the one chopper they did show a fair bit of appeared to be much older than the one being followed. Maybe it does trend with age. I'll look for that now. Anyway, what little was said about chopper seemed to be all negative and I'd liked to have heard from one of them even briefly.
