Exactly the point for Doug Liman, who clearly wants to take a break from directing megabudget, ultra-high tech movies with exhausting logistics and complex CGI to oversee. This is his idea of a spare minimalist three-hander (though the budget would no doubt seem lavish to most indie filmmakers, but for Liman it would be chump change). Also, no star egos like Pitt, Jolie or Cruise to massage. A relatively undemanding project Hitchcock would have referred to as "recharging the batteries."
