Really like it (Spolier? Perhaps? )

At first, I knew this film as a comedy and personally I did not really enjoy American-type comedy (guess we don’t have the same laughing radio). But meanwhile it is also a simple film based on the relationship development between a father and a son, looks like a good choice for relax. So I watched it and it proves to be a smart option for me!

I really like the relationship development between the father and the son. The story happened at a normal simple old town with few people live in and a downturn economy. The father who worked as a carpenter cannot find a long-term job while the mother could have a relative better second marriage life. It seems to be quite unfair for the father but it indeed is a cruel life. He just accepted it and kept do what he could do. And for the son, no matter what the father experienced, kicked out of its own house or lost its precious tools means lost its job, he was just there, being companion. I personally enjoyed these interaction, even sometimes may feel awkward and embarrassing because of their different lives but that is the part made the movie even more realistic. The father was portrayed great. I could notice his bad feelings when he struggle for his drink desire or decided to quite seeking for his tools because it was sold to some pawn shop. And the son was smart too, a bit street-smart, but he was clever and cared about others so much. He could turned into a good man sometime later. And his friend Allen was even cuter! Most of the minor characters in the movie do not have so many lines but I just like them because they are nice and real. It could make the comedy became a better film more than just some movie for laugh only.

I mean, comedy does not have to use exaggerative body languages or some adult joke to make it ridiculous so people could feel funny. Sometimes, a comedy like this, which could make you smile for a bit, laugh for a while, sad for a moment and keep living on for your own life can also be great. I do believe it was lower-ranked but I don’t care. I love it, that’s all.

Yes! Exactly! I loved this film. Simple, heart felt, funny, believable but not over the top. More movies like this please.

Not really a comedy. Everything about this movie is dreary and depressing. The moral is, don't live in a town with streets that don't have curbs.
