So...The guy is whistling "Over the hills and far away" and when he is asked his regiment he says "95th Rifles, 2nd light batallion". That was Sharpies regiment.
The character is also of a similar nature. I am quite pleased..more Sharpe in never a bad thing.

Only those with no valid argument pick holes in people's spelling and grammar. 
