When Nicky stole the files, why did she...

... pull a gun on the others and set the computer on fire? I mean, weren't the hacktivists all working together?

I didn't understand that either. Thought they were all in it together, unless she was afraid they were going to take the files from
Her before she could get them to Bourne?

reply

The place in Iceland was a kind of hub where hacktivists got together. The others there weren't part of the same organization as Nicky (that's Dassault's group).

Bourne would probably have done that to cover his tracks, but surprise, she's not Bourne or an indoctrinated assassin. So yeah.

Imagine that.

reply

With the fire going on, it would be easier for her to get away.

reply

why did she even go to this hacker place, when they could track her down in 1 minute anyway?

reply

Well, first, she didn't think they'd track her down. Notice that everyone else at the CIA thought she had connected to the network and was just sitting outside their security systems. It wasn't until the hotshot new head of cyber intelligence came in and discovered that she had used a backdoor to gain access, that they tracked her down.

But besides that, if there's even a chance of being tracked, a place owned by someone else is exactly where you want to be. Much better to be tracked down to a shared hacker hub than to her own or her partner's apartment!

reply

Really this is confusing to you? She burned it to cover her tracks (she's been on the run since the last movie in case you forgot) because the CIA is on their way, and she pulled a gun because she doesn't know who she can trust. She worked for the agency and knows they could have a mole in the group. She went there in the first place because it was good cover.

reply

Yes this was confusing because it seemed as if she was working with that group of hackers. Why would she suddenly turn on them like that? If she was that suspicious of everyone, she would find it very hard to work with anyone ever again if she did that each time. Something happened here at this point for her to lash out like that.

reply

I'm not sure what made you think she was working with them. She literally didn't say a word to anyone else in there after entering, and none of them said anything to her, until they asked if she was still online, which is when she pulled the gun on them and set the computer on fire. Plus she setup to work in an area that was physically removed from the rest of the people in there. It seemed completely clear to me that she was working on her own.

reply

More importantly Nikki knew their facial recognition software. Why did she never invest in a hat, a hoodie, or anything else to hide her face?

reply

That's what I don't get either. She chooses the riot to be safe, and she's literally the only blonde female in there. I don't get it either.

reply

I saw it yesterday without reading anything in advance. As I am watching the whole Nikki sequence all I could think was "cover your damn face"

reply

I didn't understand that. I know she's more of a hacker but she should know about their tracking ability. She didn't try and disguise herself, and she lead them directly to Bourne. When some say she sacrificed herself for Bourne ... if she hadn't looked him up in the first place he wouldn't have come under direct threat again.

reply

And she was sitting there reading like she couldn't read it anywhere else. She should have known that CIA has the ability to track her. But I think she was so ugly in this movie (whether she actually is that I don't know) that she knew she had to be killed, so she stopped using her brain.

reply

She was reading while the files were being downloaded. By the time that she got the alert that she'd been detected (which is when she stopped reading), the download was shown as being 77% complete. Yeah, there was no reason to read it right there, but no reason not to, either.

The comment about not using her brain because you think she's ugly is so nonsensical, I'm not even going to try to address it...

reply

This was a little iffy, but I don't think completely unreasonable. Until the CIA was actively looking for her, there wouldn't have been a reason for her to hide her face. And we don't even know how old the image was that they used to find her in Iceland. Lee just did a search for all women 30-35 years old at all ports and airports. Maybe Nicky did start hiding her face immediately before and after the hack, but hadn't thought to do so when she first arrived in Iceland, which could have been weeks or months earlier. I don't think it's crazy to think that she wouldn't have thought to do that, considering that she was shown in the previous movies to be extremely uncomfortable working in the field.

And in Athens, the CIA wouldn't have been looking for her if they hadn't gotten a look at her face in Iceland.
