Should have built by word of mouth

Expectations were set too high from Sundance. Had it opened small people would have been impressed by a well made sleeper from a first time director. The rape scandal probably wouldn't have exploded so hard. It was set up as a surefire Oscar contender and the next Spike Lee waiting in the wings.
