Did Marcus's mom tell Olivia to stop seeing Marcus, and that's what triggered Olivia's nervous breakdown? There's a scene where Marcus is watching them from his hospital window, and I wasn't sure if that's what she was telling her.

I'm pretty sure Marcus told Olivia they had to stop seeing each other, a scene not shown, and that pushed her off the deep end.

Yeah, that makes the most sense. While watching the film, I put that possibility out of my mind because that missing scene would've been so heartbreaking.

Obviously the author and director left this out on purpose. I like to think so that we can speculate and there be no right or wrong answer.

I liked that certain scenes were not spelled out explicitly. Like we are never shown Marcus asking Olivia for the first date. Only him considering it and then it taking place.
