I don't know about now (although I think I'll do some online research later) but in the Viet Nam war days you either headed to Canada or showed up for your assignment.
My husband and I were headed for Canada but his appeal was accepted and we stayed here. His brother too was very against the war however he decided to go in when called. It was stunning the brainwashing they did on him during basic training. He came back all gun ho for the war. Thankfully he made it through but they changed him forever with his views toward the military, etc.
Gladys......, yours is truly the dumbest post ever on this site. Basic training doesn't have that effect on anyone. Your brother-in-law obviously understood the purpose of the war. Then you and your husband and so called peaceniks and Nixon handed over a free Vietnam to a murderous gang of communist criminals.
