With the exception of the Kelly Clarkson song I don't like, the music kept the movie alive! I absolutely love it!

So I finally saw this. I thought the Kelly Clarkson song along with the one that Roland sang at the ball was one of the better parts. I wasn't a fan of their slower renditions. Even "Can't Help Falling in Love", which is supposed to be slow, just didn't sound right.

Yes, I was thinking the same. I kept finding my finger on the fast forward button each time a character was referencing to begin a song. It was fine the first time, but then a few seconds later they had another one...and another...another...etc. After a while it felt like overkill.

Sadly the story didn't add to my patience, I was expecting at least a decent film but it turned out pretty terrible compared to most animations these days. Little girls might enjoy it but my friends boys couldn't stand it.

Lucas' name definitely helped this get out there, however the whole film just felt like an huge music video. Moulin Rouge at least had a more natural feel than this, which felt very forced with the overkill of music to guide the story.

I had to fast forward too

The music bothered me too. They just kept on and on with a mix of mismatched love songs thinking that the subject of the songs would advance the plot.

I hated the music in this movie. I might like the songs individually on their own but overall...didn't like the karaoke feel to all the songs. There was waaaay too much music and it kinda ruined the movie in a way. I hate pop songs in what ought to be original stories. Wish it had alot less music an all it needed was a handful of good original tunes to tie it together.

The story I did like. The animation was awesome but a little fast-paced. Music was awful.

One critic described it as feeling like he was hearing someone's itunes favs on shuffle.

Yep, came here to say the exact same thing. The songs were awful. The first couple were OK but then it became apparent that there would be one every 5 min and the songs were just lazy attempts to progress the dialogue forward. Such an awful, misguided use of what are otherwise good songs.

would've been fine if they just toned it the fvck down. But I have to say, the part at the ball with Roland and Marianne was done well, in my opinion, even if I loathe that Kelly Clarkson song.

Ya blew it. Kapeesh?

reply

that's the problem. the look and design is good.
