Netflix Rating is 5 out of 5 stars

Is there a glitch with the Neflix Rating for this movie. It has a full 5 star rating. Usually netflix instant streaming ratings are pretty good, I watched plenty of movies based off of good ratings and was never disappointed, until I saw this trash.

It's because it stars YouTubers who have millions of viewers. So all the viewers came and rated it 5 stars.

Books and movies are apples and oranges. They're both delicious, but they don't taste the same.

He got famous through Vine, and so all his insane, sheep like followers (like my sister) went and gave it 5 stars to help their pretend boyfriend.

He's famous?

Cameron Dallas is internet famous which is just as good as being famous the old fashioned way.

I'm glad I never heard of him before. He seems like a douche.

Curiously, to which "he" are you referring? I didn't see anyone truly famous in the credits. Based on your comment, I get that one of the guys has some specific online following, which is definitely not fame for being a talented actor. Unless...is this he considered an amazing actor on Vine or YouTube? Are we talking Oscar worthy actor? Or just some guy that young girls have the hots for, so the production company is waving talent for a projected profit based primarily on physical attraction?

I came here to investigate and consider this film when Netflix listed it as a near perfect movie, with a 4.9 (out of 5.0) recommendation for me. From what I can tell thus far...there's NO way it's something I'd consider a near perfect film.

It seems the 5-star NF rating system is somewhat unreliable, but reviews and IMDb have cleared things up for me, and hopefully others. Especially those people that would miss out on amazing films that both men and women would appreciate. Something intense like the thriller The Secret in Their Eyes (2009): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1305806 , which is being remade in the U.S. because it's so good...and they need to cater to those too lazy to read subtitles. 

My granddaughter is watching it right now. Probably for the 10th time. She's in seventh grade, so there's an excuse.

I watched a few minutes of it. The acting is some of the worst I've ever seen in my life, to be generous. There's no resemblance between what I'm listening to from the living room and the patterns of human speech. The mother, especially, sounds like she's reading text she's never seen before from a page.

So why does the five star rating not surprise me? Because it's being watched by the target audience to whom it was directed. They would loathe GONE GIRL, for example, because it dares to ask the audience to remember and associate and, God forbid, think. NEBRASKA would be unthinkable. Black and white? Old people? Really?

My granddaughter is enjoying it, and I'm happy for her. She's the target audience, and I don't think that the experience is going to warp her.

Did this film ever play in theaters, or was it a straight to video? I'd never heard of it before tonight.

The lead Cameron Dallas. He is like the big thing for pre-teens (like my sister). These people are devoted to Dallas and they go and make him famous wherever they can. His YouTube videos consist of him answering questions from his fans. It's absurd. Just look up Cameron Dallas into youtube and read some of the comments.

I guess everyone has their own definition of famous.

Vine has stars? Aren't all the videos 6 seconds long? What the *beep*

i enjoyed it. rate it low if u dont like it

It has one star on mine, I guess it updated?

I don't think that's how the Netflix star system works. I also used to believe that it was some kind of average based on user-submitted reviews, but apparently it's only an estimated guess of how much you're likely to enjoy a certain movie based on your own past reviews and possibly your viewing history. So it's different for everyone.

Netflix rated this movie 4 stars for me, and that's probably because I have been watching Malcolm in the Middle.

reply

I've heard this also. It would explain how some people see 5 stars and some see 1.

Netflix predicted I would give this at least 4 out of 5 stars. Ugh, it was awful! I debated giving it 1 star but gave it 2 for a single small giggle I think I had somewhere in the movie. I'm not sure if the Netflix rating system is just crappy, or if there's a rating fraud going on. Something's odd it seems. Usually Netflix predictions are pretty right on for me.

There's nothing wrong with the ratings, maybe you people are to old and shouldn't be watching it? It's clearly made for TEENS/Pre-teens so to them they loved it and rated it 5 stars. I don't think it was a bad movie either.

Netflix ratings are generally poor indicators of quality.
