How do they connect Evil Dead 1 and 2?

Apparently both are referenced, but those two are not directly connected.

reply

Yes they are. evil dead 2 picks up exactly where 1 left off.

reply

No it does not

reply

Yes it does and has been state by Sam raimi and bruce campbell. The start of it had to be re shot due to rights issues but evil dead 2 picks up from the end of evil dead 1. I mean the big giveaway is when the evil goes through the house and grabs ash standing outside.

^^^^ This 100%

OK it's all down to personal opinion whether or not you want to treat the first two movies as separate entities, e.g. if you want to view Evil Dead 2 as a remake or Ash going back to the cabin years later or whatever. But if you crave, if you truly desire to have that direct connection between them, simply ignore the first seven minutes of Evil Dead 2, this will bring you right up to where The Evil Dead ended and BANG there you go. Simple solution.

This is exactly it.

As cast and crew have stated in the past, they had to "retell" an abbreviated version of The Evil Dead up until the tree-whip sequence, because they didn't own the rights to the footage when making Evil Dead 2.

While I get people doing "mixed universe" theories, since everyone involved is pretty clear as to the "why", this sums it up perfectly.

The Evil Dead = Day One
Evil Dead II = Day Two

Well, this is my NEW personal canon: just mine.
It's a theory.
It's not a gospel.
It's not canon.

Hopefully you'll like it the same way I like it.

1 UNIVERSE
1 ASH
1 CABIN
1 STORY

Here we go:

THE EVIL DEAD PLASTIC UNIVERSE THEORY

Have fun, have a good read. I'm just a passionate fan.

Thank you so much.

Entertaining read, I doubt the writers put as much thought into it as you did but it is still pretty fun to read how you link them all

reply

Oh, please. There's no continuity in any of the movies so don't even try. No one making those movies gave a *beep* because they didn't know that decades later, a bunch of nerds would be bickering about it on something called "the internet".

reply

Well no the made evil dead and just barely broke even and killed everyone off. Years later people wanted a sequel so they made it and because evil dead ending is slightly open (we never actually see ash die) they changed it to keep him alive.

Then at the end of evil dead 2 when he goes back in time was all actually meant to be in evil dead 2 but 1. They dint have the time to do it and 2. They realised the film would be too long and confusing so they planned to make a 3rd but when they got round to it they had lost the rights (a recurring thing for these films) so had to re shoot and alter it slightly again.

But the's films and shows are all one continuous story.

reply

Thanks for clarifying this.
I had so many continuity questions when they would reference the first two films.
Now it makes sense.

haha exactly many of the laws of physics of a movie and whats canon or not have been decided years afterwards by nerds analysing tiny details (and mistakes) that the director didnt know or give a shit about.

They are connected directly. Evil Dead II takes place directly after The Evil Dead. The beginning of Evil Dead II was recap, because they couldn't get the rights to the first movie.

reply

They left out a lot of characters for a recap. His sister wasn't even mentioned. I don't really care because continuity in horror is nonexistent.

reply

His sister is mentioned in the the tv show. So it's all good...
