This is the part that really astounded me as well, when the reading the final statements at the end this documentary.
"Why is he even allowed to communicate with *any* member of his former FLDS cult?"
I'm not a lawyer, and I know very little about the US judicial system (other than what I see in tv and films, and I bet a lot of that is exaggerated or even just plain false, so I take that info with a huge grain of salt), but if a man has been given a guilty conviction of life (plus an additional 20 years) and is the former leader and self-described "prophet" of a fanatically religious group comprised of an estimated 10,000 people - who could commit mass suicide from a single verbal command (or I suppose a second-hand command told through his equally corrupt brother Lyle) - you'd think the state would be actively trying to pass a law prohibiting him from communicating (IN ANY WAY -
email, hand written letters, recorded tapes, telephone, heck even Skype!) with these extremely ignorant, indoctrinated followers of his!
The only thing they accomplished by having him convicted and in prison is that he can no longer, himself, physically molest and rape young girls (and boys too - cuz it's not about sexual orientation for pedophiles folks...it's about power and control over those deemed 'weak and vulnerable' and children are the easiest and most accessible targets - heck this sick mf had to just say, 'The Lord whispered your daughter's name in my ear, send her to me' and parents would happily hand over their underage daughters to him for molestations, rapes and illegal marriages).
But if he's in constant communication, now he can just get his jollies by setting up underage marriages by proxy of some other perverted pedophiles in his 'flock'...so really he's just passing the 'Pedophile Torch' on to other sicko men in his FLDS cult.
The disgusting systematic cycle of abuse continues for future generations of children.
There's gotta be some way to cut him off from communication - some kind of law prohibiting him from any verbal or written communication with Lyle or anyone else besides a court-appointed lawyer (he doesn't get to choose - sorry convicted serial rapists shouldn't have a right to choose their own council - he squandered his rights when he molested and raped countless children for decades)
and then they gotta abolish the absolutely ridiculous 'hobby lobby' law that allows people to excuse themselves from testifying in court due to their religious beliefs.
Bullsh*t! Then *anyone* could claim some made-up religion to get out of testifying! That's a shady loophole law if I ever saw one!
Anyone on this board with knowledge of the American judicial system? I guess it varies State to State too? I'm Canadian, and even my knowledge of my own judicial system is sparse - I need to educate myself stat!📓😛
