The Invisible War is an honest film. It isn't a gender issue, as much as feminists would want to make it to be.

The problems those victims face are very different from what victims outside military system face. For example, allegations are often handled by superiors at the division the victim was in. So, if the person responsible to oversee the case is the rapist, or the rapist' buddy, then what? That is unlikely to happen in our world because it's highly unlikely the investigator/judge on a case is also the rapist. But highly likely within the military, due to how investigation is structured. Also, if a rapist or a victim is relocated to another division, the case disappears. This problem does not exist outside military. A criminal case does not disappear just because the rapist or the victim moved to another town, and we also can't force either party to relocate. We also have a very straight forward protocol to handle these cases while for the military, it's like navigating through a maze to even be heard.

Then there's the cause military personnel sign to prevent them from suing military for medical bills. Since they are highly likely to get injured on the job. But then, any medical care incurred as result of their assault, victims had to deal with those medical bills themselves.

And so on.

The filmmaker is also very honest about his decision to focus heavily on female victims while admitting he is very aware half of all victims are men. But he has good reasons, and I think he made the right call.

Whereas The Hunting Ground is deliberate fabrication of lies.

I don't know about the Invisible War, but substantial parts of Hunting Ground (i.e., the Harvard Law and FSU "cases") have been debunked like creationism.
