So, why is it still being called...

Why is this still being called The Woman in Red, when we've known for months now that it's real title is The Scandalous Lady W? Also the release date for this is very soon, August 20th to be exact, don't know why nothing's been updated on this page. I personally am excited for this adaptation.

I came on here to say the exact same thing! There is an article in my local paper about it as the Worseleys used to live at Appledurcombe House near Shanklin.

I do hope IMDb changes the title soon and adds pictures because there's photo still's out now as well. (Quick Google Search shows just about every change.) The Worsley's are a very interesting piece of history and I know Shaun and Natalie are going to play them brilliantly.

I am glad to see that IMDb have, at last, changed the title of the entry. I saw a trailer for it on BBC1 just now, after Casualty. Looks good.

It was originally listed on IMDB as 'The Woman in Red' because that was the 'working title' and as such that was the title put out by the BBC originally. Contributors to IMDB can only work with the information supplied by the companies actually making a TV series or film.

Yes, the title could have been altered earlier - why wasn't it? Because no-one changed it. That may sound a silly thing to say - but IMDB do not create the data that appears on a page it is merely a host for that data.

Only two groups of people submit data to IMDB - people who actually work for a film/TV production company AND/OR members of the general public such as myself who submit information about films/TV shows. There is no army of IMDB staff around the world who sit entering all the information about a programme.

It is completely free of charge to submit data to IMDB about a programme - such as who the production co-ordinator is or an outline of the plot. However, some content has to be paid for to be put on IMDB - such as movie posters and other promotional material. That is only going to be done by the production company/distributor/TV channel.

I hope that helps clear things up.

Thank you, well said :)

Thank you, Mark. I hadn't really looked into the internal workings of IMDb but it makes sense that they themselves do not type away frantically after the release of every single production because that would be too vast an undertaking.

I have just finished watching this on BBC iPlayer and quite enjoyed it. It wasn't outstanding but it wasn't bad either. It was good enough to make me want to look up more information about this couple and the love triangle - something I am about to Google now.

You are both welcome.

The other aspect of IMDB that many people are unaware of is that the site is 'country specific'. In other words when you look at a page for a film or TV show you are looking at the 'UK' version of IMDB or the 'US' version of IMDB according to what country the website has you down as being from (when you first registered).

So as an example if you, as a UK based user of IMDB, were to look at the page for a film that was released in the US on 20th December 2014 but was released in the UK on 20th January 2015 you should see the release date (in brackets at the top of the page next the title of the film) as (20 Jan 2015) if it's showing as (20 Dec 2014) then the site has you down as an American!

An easy way to check this is to visit the page of a show that was shown in the UK with a different name from the original US title. Here's an example:-

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0784964/?ref_=rvi_tt

If the title of that TV show appears as "Apocalypse Code: The Bible Prediction" then you are viewing 'British IMDB', if it doesn't you are viewing the US version. BTW don't think I'm some religious nut or something - that just happens to be a show that I have added the UK alternative title to the site.

And yes I would agree that "The Scandalous Lady W" was good but not outstanding (I rated it a 7/10, which seems to the typical rating for it). It 'sagged' a little I thought.

I did wonder why some titles differed on here - I punch in a title from Amazon's reccomendations but it comes up as something altogether different on occasion.

The example you provided above comes up my end as "Secret History of Religion: Doomsday - Book of Revelation" so I am evidently listed as a US resident. Another difference which I didn't analyse until you informed me of the variations is the DVD covers. When is more than one movie with the same title and I am searching for a review on here in the search list, I usually look for the image that matches the Region 2 DVD on Amazon and often the covers are different in American releases. This happens quite a lot so I just check the date now.

I often get suggestions from Amazon (as we all do), based on recent purchases and for once I don't find this annoying or intrusive. I just bought a war-based movie based on a true story last night for the princely sum of £2.50 (new). It's from 1974 but the cover on my Amazon copy differs from the one on here. This is what I bought:

It's always nice to engage with helpful and friendly IMDb users for they can be few and far between on some boards so thank you for the low-down on the workings of IMDb which I find interesting given it is such a vast website! 

You can select how you see titles displayed on IMDb. You can choose to see them in their original form, or you can see them in the form used for release in your country. You can do this by adjusting your site preferences here

Thanks, seems I am actually set to UK settings.
