Instead it should return to its 90s-era roots, where it spent money on "news shows" to cover the latest happenings in the world of movies, books, and comic-cons. Plus interviews with the writers, actors, and special effects artists.
I suspect SyFY stopped spending money on "news shows" to cover the latest happenings in the world of movies, books, and comic-cons. Plus interviews with the writers, actors, and special effects artists due to dwelling audiences for such shows on SyFy. Especially with the expansive usage of the internet and various other TV and online entertainment news shows. And more importantly as you say, "waste it's money on projects like this" I would guess makes money for SyFy as they draw more viewers. I know I liked Tremors 5 and hope they continue the franchise.

shareI miss the old channel from the 90s too. The movies they produce are fake and boring. The special effects are horrible. I miss Friday the 13th series, CNet etc. Chiller is no better. They produce there own movies like Scfy.
