Not one likeable character

I just despise this movie and never want to see the actor/director or the actress ever again.

reply

I really agree with this! Especially the wife. I really couldn't stand her.

reply

What was wrong with Robyn? She was right about her husband.

reply

I think people think she is dumb and naive and I wonder if they did not like that she had a pill popping problem.i'm thinking she could be relatable with her flaws even if I hope I would not find out I'm married to a stranger.

reply

I don't think she was dumb, just paranoid, and rightfully so.

I liked the wife, she was a nice and shy person without any plans on hurting anybody else
she had her reasons to be paranoid because she lost the baby and had drug problems and everything that happened was making it worse for her.

I thought Jangles was likable enough

reply

totally agree.

Now I know how King Arthur felt when Lancelot caressed his wife's genitalia!

reply

What was wrong with Robyn? Or the neighbor? They were both likeable to me.

I also had no problem with Gordon because I don't think he raped Robyn. Simon was a bully - in general. He never grew up or matured any. He was a jerk who deserved what he got.

reply

No, you're the dislikeable character, dude. The wife was very likeable. Even Gordon was not completely unlikeable. Simon was very loathesome.

reply

I guess people have different ideas about who is likeable

reply

Why do we need to like a person in a movie in order to like the movie?

All Art is pretense.

Having Robyn as such a sympathetic character was one of the first things that stood out in The Gift. There is an increasing number of films without any likable characters. Which is a terrible idea, even if it's a horror film, but Hollywood keeps doing it. As far as Gordo, it depends on whether or not he did the deed. I'd prefer to think he didn't.
