A grim, nasty & mean-spirited film

Not sure what I was expecting. I guess more of a psychological thriller but this went right back to the low bar of horror, torture porn.

And I found it really disgusting the idea that the father kept raping the woman in hopes she'd get pregnant to give birth to the child who died.

Crazy people listening to opera or 40s tunes to show us how "crazy" they are is a tired old trope; this one even has them dancing to "Midnight, the Stars and You," the end title song from THE SHINING!

Well-acted but it's just so yeech that you can't "enjoy it" and the way it was edited, you knew early on that people would end up dead in the basement, so all the energy seeps out by about 40 min mark and you're left with just the nastiness.

Basically yes...a grim tale of nothingness.
