Hitler is the Boogeyman. Boo-hoo!

After all the hype I was curious about this movie so I watched it. As I should have expected I was thoroughly disappointed.

First of all the leading actor didn't look like Hitler at all, no matter how much they say the opposite. He's just too tall for the role. For the entirety of the film he was trying to fisicaly intimidate people with his height. That's bollock, as is well known the real Hitler'e height was about average for his time and place. Besides that, the guy doesn't hold a candle to Bruno Ganz. At least Ganz Hitler could intimidate his subordinates by sheer strength of character, this other guy just looked like a neighbourhood bully with a funny moustache.

Then the film itself has all the stiffness, awkwardness and rancid odour which characterizes current German films. It's flat, lifeless, unfunny and preachy.

On the plus side there was one bit which I found funny. Can you guess which? When the TV channel producer sends up the famous meltdown scene from Der Untergang.

Anyway the film is just trashy propaganda. Basically commands German people to obey their masters and do as they are told, because if they think for themselves the Boogeyman Hitler will come back and eat them alive. It's an endorsement for Führerzin frau Merkel and her handlers.
