Peter Quill (Star Lord)/Will Friedle

The voice doesn't fit the look. I don't know why Friedle is using his Ron Stoppable voice. Terry McGinnis would have been a BIT more appropriate (a bit). Friedle's voice is youthful, mischievous and profoundly high-pitched. So here, it looks like there's a teenage boy trapped in a huge man's body.

Either re-cast (I still love you Will!) or make the character less brawny(which they probably won't). In the comics, Peter doesn't even look anything like in the promo and Chris Pratt sometimes has that "dumb goofy" look on his face. In the promo, he looks, how can I say this, quite rigid looking.

It's not just the annoying whiny teenager voice. They also wrote Quill as an annoying whiny teenager, to make it easy for 12-year-olds to identify with the character.

The entire dialogue is rather immature, but Quill's lines are especially infantile. It's almost as bad as Ultimate Spider-Man in that regard. I guess Marvel's / Disney's philosophy is "boys buy action figures, all other audience demographics can go screw themselves".

I don't know why they didn't just continue to use Chris Cox as they have in the past on the other shows.

With you all on the choice of voice actor and the general direction they've gone with the character. Quill is annoying on this in the same way Peter Venkman was in The Real Ghostbusters back in the 80s.

reply

How did you not like Venkman? That slow lazy way he had of talking perfectly fit the character just like Murray fit the character in the movie. His voice was as perfect as Egon's.

He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man.

We'll I finally watched the first episode (didn't finish it. Not my kind of cartoon) and although I cringed when Star Lord first spoke, I finally got used to his youthful high-pitched voice. I guess the voice had to match with his man-child personality. Other words, I no longer have problems with Will Friedle providing the voice.

I thought the same thing, the voice does not match his appearance. He is also written very annoyingly, just like many other characters in the Disney/Marvel animated universe, Hawkeye being a prime example of how they can truly mess up a character.
