shockingly bad

At first I thought there was some artistic genius at work that I couldn't figure out. However, this is really only a bunch of scenes and ideas disjointedly put together. I don't mind using my imagination, but this film requires you to fabricate a lot and, more often than not, suspend belief. A lot of the individual scenes are great. If the movie were 12 hours it would be coherent.

Yeah I kind of agree. A lot of the individual scenes were great, but overall the movie severely lacked character development. It was really hard to develop any sympathy for the characters. I also agree with your comment about this concept being a lot better if significantly more time were spent developing the characters.

I liked the cinematography, use of Vancouver locations and the exploring of Sikh traditions and Punjabi lingo, but the overall film left me cold.

We barely get to know any of these characters and why they're involved in the criminal lifestyle. I like Randeep Hooda as an actor, but here he's not required to do much other than brood, say f--k a lot and creepily purse his Polish mistress. Outside of Jeet Johar, his mom and love interest, Grewal Ji, Joker and the new recruit, you can't even tell the other characters apart as they're all faceless thugs. They're just shooting each other for no reason and there's no reason why we should be interested in their story.

What a disappointing film because this story of Indo-Canadian gangs had potential to be intriguing.
