To become a DPM, you DON'T go to medical school.

I think the hot latina Podiatrist mentioned she went to medical school.

When I recalled my podiatrist was an actual doctor I looked this up in wiki(I understand wiki isn't necessarily fact but this is as far as I felt like googling).

In the United States, Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) are physicians and surgeons who practice on the lower extremities, primarily on feet and ankles. The preparatory education of most podiatrists includes four years of undergraduate work, followed by four years in an accredited podiatric medical school, followed by a three or four-year hospital-based surgical residency.
Although podiatrists worldwide do not attend traditional medical school, they are the most qualified doctors to care for the foot/ankle complex

So I believe she was going to be entering her surgical residency which she had just applied for.

As a neurosurgeon, I can tell you we all go to medical school. Then if we get matched with our chosen specialty at one of the schools we pick, we get happy on "Match Day." Podiatry and Podiatric surgery are specialties. They have MD's and then some. I had to do 9 years of residency (after medical school) to get my license to practice neurosurgery.
