A decent one-time watch, some ok stories w/ a couple goodies mixed in!

Watched this because I can't wait for a Trick 'r Treat sequel, and thought another halloween anthology would be fun to check out.

I liked the first segment, "Sweet Tooth" however a lot of the following stories seemed to get cut short, or just weren't scary. I didn't understand how some of them just ended flat, I was expecting more...like the witch cooking her husband who suddenly says "I'm melting!" Like was the huge climax to the story when the husband admits he had a vasectomy, causing her demon to melt?? This and other stories were at least comical, I did especially love "Friday the 31st" and the one where the two guys kidnap the rich guy's kid.

I feel like they crammed too many stories in, rather than cleverly developing them and giving them a great ending. They could've cut out a few of the weaker ones and built on the better.

For those disappointed in this, I highly recommend watching Trick 'r Treat instead. Although most who probably watched this had already seen it!

Sweet Tooth was the best one in my opinion.

Trick r Treat is much better, but this wasnt bad. Ill probably add this to my list of movies to watch around Halloween. While the stories werent always good, there is a strong Halloween theme in almost all of them.

I found it pretty bad overall, even being lenient because it is an anthology.

It had some cute ideas. It had some decent performances. It had some fun direction. It did not have all three things in any of the segments, maybe apart from "Trick", which felt the most original and had, in my opinion, the best twist out of any of the shorts. It also gets bonus points for subverting one of my least favorite horror movie cliches (the evil kids who kill for no reason).

I liked "Ding Dong" because it least it had an original vision and some energy. I think that modernizing fairy tales is pretty played out, but having the modern day witch from Hansel and Grettle as a miserable childless woman in her 30s with a spineless husband and a dog-as-child-replacement was pretty hilarious. I thought it was funny that her "inside" self was this evil witch and the "outside" self was the rom-com trope of the sad-sack woman who just wants a baby.

As a whole it isn't unwatchable, but I think that "Trick," "Ding Dong", and "Ransom of Rusty Rex" are the only ones really worth paying attention to. The rest were all either half-baked, or just flat out bad. I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that the same person who directed Dog Soldiers made the limp-noodle "Seed".
