Love the show...

It doesn't have the budget of The Expanse, but it makes up for it with interesting executions and concepts on perception, memory, and identity. It's a terrific mix of "Firefly" and "Dollhouse" with some healthy doses levity, action, and surprising character arcs.

I am so glad that they got a second season, and here's hoping for a third!

Season 3 has already been ordered. Old news in fact.

Call me low class, but I like it better than The Expanse. It's fast-moving and fun, whereas The Expanse is slow and kind of depressing.

I have to agree. I tried watching the Expanse and I couldn't make it passed the third episode 'cause it was really boring and I thought I would have enjoyed it when I first saw the ad for it on TV but it was very disappointed. I was surprised it got renewed for a second season.

Agree with both you and DebLovesBeccy, Expanse was too dark, slow and dreary for my taste. I liked Dark Matter much more. Better balance between sci-fi, fun and likable characters (something Expanse was mostly lacking).

That was a shit way to end the show after season 3 final episode wtf

I like the Expanse a lot, but it took me the entire first season to work out what was even happening in the plot. I agree that Dark Matter was a lot more fun. Also, I really like the characters in Dark Matter more than those in The Expanse. TV has really moved away from characters you care about, I think, and towards exciting plots and complicated mythologies/mysteries. I suppose this is because streaming allows bingeing and, with bingeing, people are less likely to lose track of complicated plots. I think the other effect that has been created by bingeing is that you get through an entire season in a week or so, and then forget about the series until the entire next season drops in a year or so, so there is less attachment developed to the characters. I think this is a pity because it's really the characters that make shows memorable (in my opinion).

Anyway, I loved Dark Matter, wish they had been able to finish the story. I loved that despite the show's ominous title and the starting point of all of these supposedly terrible people, that I actually really liked all the main characters as they developed their arcs.
