When

When is this going to air, they said october 2015, it is now november, i guess they had problems with rights.

reply

Plugging it to death on Channel 9 right now. It can't possibly live up to the hype.

I doubt it will go to air before the new year, December is a non-ratings period.

Umm ... Network 7 will be airing the documentary on Ian Meldrum, not 9.

As you stated I also doubt you will see it before February 2016 if they broadcast as per previous years. In other words, "after the tennis" - as with all major programs on Network 7.

Are we talking about the same programme?

Molly is not a documentary, it's a biopic, starring Samuel Johnson as Molly Meldrum.

Sorry, didn't realise I used the wrong description of the program ... yes ... the same program.

AFAIK there is only one program about Ian Meldrum going to air in the future.
Samuel Johnson as Ian "Molly" Meldrum ... 2 parts/episodes.

reply

No worries. I got the channel wrong, so that's what caused the confusion.

well, Docu-drama, almost.

But yeah, 7 Network hype we have been putting up with for a few weeks now...

If it was 9, maybe it would have been even worse.

Actually more logical for 9 to have it, he did the spot on "Hey Hey It's Saturday" for years..

I guess NINE got burned too badly on 'GALLIPOLI" this time last year.

reply

We haven't seen it yet pfarnell, but I doubt very much that it will be a docu-drama. It will surely be an entertainment piece, with no voice over or reference to facts and figures, as per a documentary.

The hype has gone on way longer than a few weeks, my original comment was back in November and it already felt like it had gone on too long then.

I believe all the commercial channels are just as bad with their over hyping of coming attractions, to the detriment of programmes that are currently airing. The banners across the bottom of the screen during shows are another example.

What makes it worse, is that they often mess around with the programming of these over hyped shows once they have began running, not this one I suspect. But much hyped series have their air times moved and repeats run mid-way through a series, until the viewers no longer know where they are and some, like me, give up on them.

THAT is getting out of hand and driving me fkn nuts...this continual intrusion of bubbles from the MOST retarded fkn shows like Warnie(groan) get me outer here..

or the insets into end credits, you miss musical credits when you want to identify songs, you are right that they are all idiots 7-9-10, but 9 always seemed to be an extra class apart when it came to schmaltz hype, and fking things up such as advertised time slots..

I've seen Part 1 Molly anyway, DVRd it, naturally...no way was I going to sit through it live, and wear the ads with no way to leap through it...I'd give it a mixed review..

they certainly show him as a pugnacious little so-and-so, when he lost his temper..I knew he had had fights with Boz Scaggs and possibly Elton John's security people, but they show him clobbering John Paul Young as well in quite a nasty little get-evener, which astonished me..and the all-in brawl he jumped into at Croxton Park disco..

reply

I missed it!

Despite all the endless promotion, I never realised it went to air last Sunday, when I was out.

It is actually being repeated right now, but I'm not really in the mood. 

reply

Umm... That made you look dumb

reply

uh, well, no, it was a simple mis-statement...I was never in doubt which program we were all discussing , since this is it's imdb page and board.

go back to your Tweets and stop interrupting the adults, ok?
