The ratings don't matter. This show has had bad ratings since the first episode. USA clearly doesn't care about them. The critical acclaim this show gets will be more than enough to keep it on the air. And I disagree the plot is convoluted. Its a little confusing at times but overall its pretty easy to follow along if you pay attention.

I am not sure how it works for cable shows, for network shows if they make it a couple seasons already they sometimes stretch it out to reach a certain amount of episodes for syndication. But based on ratings for USA shows this show is in the danger zone.

No, it doesn't. One of the most successful (if not the most successful) syndicated rerun TV shows in history, Star Trek, only had 79 episodes. 100 episodes is commonly cited as an ideal minimum, not a requirement. Any show can be syndicated if someone is willing to offer it as a syndication package and someone is willing to buy it, regardless of how many episodes it has.
All shows get cancelled or end.

shareMy point was that Stranger Things is very popular, but Mr. Robot is a better program. Excellent programs that are critically acclaimed don't always get good ratings. Look at Twin Peaks. Seeing the ratings are so bad for Twin Peaks, I guess you don't think there should be a season 4.

mr robot albeit a very good and unique show is on a downward trend in viewership.
When I would bring that up about Twin Peaks, people would tell me that ratings don't matter as much anymore, because most don't watch television in the traditional way anymore. I never watch Mr. Robot when it comes on for the first time. I watch when it is convenient for me. I don't even know when Mr. Robot is on and it doesn't matter since I watch it when I can.
