The plots of this type of movie are bad if you think about it ...

If you have someone in your life, and they die,
and then you try to bring them back in some way,
doesn't that mean you are just thinking about yourself?
Especially if you do not really know how to do it perfectly.
You bring them back and they are mentally defective ... then what.
Or you clone them and they are different, or maybe not, how would you know,
or how would they know.
What are people to each other ... just replaceable things, or what?

reply

i'm a badly made clone, my Dad made me when I darwinned myself.
He's happy im back, im pleased to be alive ... everyones a winner.

That's how every story like this turns out ... except this one

Yes, the reanimator is being selfish, same as in every other movie like this one

And in every other movie things go horribly wrong as punishment for his hubris, because he was "playing god"

But not this one. It's weird that way. Keanu's character gets to have his cake and eat it too, twice! (because the 345 version of him gets to go on "living" as a resurrection specialist)

reply

the 345 version of Keanu should have hunted down and killed the biological Keanu and taken over his family. it thinks it is Keanu, and logically, it has the superior physical substrate and longer lifespan

reply

Ooh, that would’ve been good!!

reply

But because it has all of William's ethics and logic, it would also get the most satisfaction out of protecting the original William and his family, not harming that. The robot's perspective would mirror the original's: it has sacrificed just as much to bring about a happy ending, so it does that.

reply

I think that was either a modern twilight zone or outer limits episode

reply

it's even worse when you get to edit their memories before bringing them back
