where is Captain America?

So he gave Sam his shield , then what... Did he retire to Florida and is playing shuffle board?

reply

He's on the moon with Nick Fury playing golf.

A better question is:

Where is Captain Hindsight?!

reply

I’m sure there IS a reason but for me, just as a movie watcher, I don’t know why he gave Falcon his shield....especially over his BFF Bucky, who was standing right there!
I mean, Bucky with an amazing shield in one hand and a metal arm on the other side....cool!
Falcon, who flies....what use is a shield? Seems not very practical.
Maybe someone who knows the comics can explain.

reply

well...where is he?

reply

He just stayed on that bench……and quietly passed away……and then raccoons, cougars and bald eagles ate his body (very American?) 😭

reply

I do not know the comics but I can give my opinion as to why he gave the shield to Falcon and not Bucky. also note, I have not watched "Falcon and Winter Soldier" so if this is explained there I apologize.

I simply think Falcon got the shield because Cap felt that Sam Wilson (Falcon) was a person who exemplified the characteristics that Steve felt embodied Captain America. Sam was a good man who would do the right thing. Bucky, while being a good person as well, could be compromised as he had been before.

I’ve not read the comics or seen that new series either….but yes, good points!

You can find Captain America when you look at Sam. Steve Rogers has retired.

reply

IF, you wanted to honor Captain America and/or you just wanted the shield, a good weapon to be used to good ends, then The Falcon, using the shield, under HIS OWN NAME, would have been fine.

Especially teamed up with Bucky to have the super human muscle, when it was needed.

Taking his name, was going too far, imo.

reply

His name is Samuel Thomas "Sam" Wilson. Captain America is an alias like Hawkeye or Black Widow.
A bit like a job title. Steve Rogers retired, Sam took the job.

reply

They did a storyline like this in the comics. Steve gave up the name and gave Sam the title. Sales on the book tanked so they figured out a way to give it back to Steve. Can't help but wonder if that will happen again, although Chris Evans giving up the role complicates things.

reply

you think that it failed before, would have given them a heads up.

Seriously, wtf is driving them to this? What would have happened if they DIDN'T do this? They couldn't make a Falcon and Winter Solider movie?

reply

From the way they opened Falcon and Winter Soldier with the memorial service, it looks like Steve may have passed since Endgame. Either that or he has been put into witness protection or some other program to make it seem he is dead.
