Anyone see the possibility of Thor becoming the new leader of the Avengers

Everyone is betting on any the new heroes to take the place of Tony and Steve as the leaders of the MCU.
But I was thinking what if Marvel gives that spot( of the leader) now to Thor.

I’m thinking maybe marvel gave Thor a fourth movie to make him the new face of the MCU, maybe he will be the new leader and Chris Hemsworth’s contract is for another 10 years.

A coup attempt at the scale you are hinting at carries with it significant risks.

I can see this happening quite easily, however is it likely to happen? Well... possibly? But after Endgame, one can safely assume that Thor doesn’t exactly want to be in a position to lead. Though this can change depending on what happens in Love and Thunder; we’ll no doubt have a better idea of what Thor’s future will look like in the MCU then.

Regarding Marvel’s reason for going ahead with a 4th Thor film, I think the main reason is Ragnarok was such a big success critically+financially and it’s a film that reinvented the Thor franchise and Thor himself - and then obvs Thor played a pivotal role in both Infinity War & Endgame (which only made the character a bigger fan-favorite). So with the character becoming more important and compelling than ever before - as well as Hemsworth deciding to stay around - it makes sense that they would give Thor 4 the go. In any event, while I won’t say it’s absolutely going to happen (and won’t be disappointed if it doesn’t), there’s a good chance they’ll make Thor the new leader of The Avengers. He’ll definitely be worthy.

It’s so true everything you said.

Ofcourse Thor Love and Thunder it’s partly happening because of the huge success of Thor Ragnarock and how Popular Thor is now, as you said the character has been reinvented and marvel figured out better than ever what to do with him.

And maybe All this mixed with Chris Hemsworth new love for this character maybe it’s a sign he will take the place of the leader which I’d be completely thrilled about.

Chris Hemsworth is incredible in this role and loves that part as much as RDJ loved Iron Man The whole time.
Robert is not leaving because he is tired of Iron Man but because he feels like he is getting old for the part and says he should leave at the top of his game.
I respectfully disagree with him about getting old to be Iron Man but understand his reasons.

Anyway going back to Chris as Thor there no one better to be the new leader than a character that has been with the Avengers since the beginning and an actor who truly loves the franchise and his character. I think he is perfect to lead the new team.
I would really love this to happen.

But you are also right that we are gonna have a better idea as what will happen with Thor once love and Thunder is released or at least have a trailer.
I’m hyped for that movie very much.

Anyway Maybe I got the wrong idea but you liked endgame Thor right. ?
You are on the half of the fans who liked this turn for the character.
The thing is Fat Thor was a huge polarizing thing from endgame half of the fans loved it and the other half hatted it.

Personally i loved it and made total sense in the character arc. He went to his lowest in Endgame and he is climbing back to the top. Which I guess will happen at the end of love and Thunder.

Yes, I do belong to the group of fans that are fond of Thor’s portrayal in Endgame. In fact, I love it!

Although I may agree with some people that thought the jokes about his weight became excessive (Rocket’s insults are too funny tho), unlike those fans that were unhappy with his overall portrayal as “Fat Thor”, I took no issue with his turn in Endgame. I mean, this is a guy who lost virtually everyone and everything he cared about, and he of course ended up blaming himself for failing to stop Thanos and save those he loved. Thus, him falling into a deep depression and having him let himself completely go 100% made sense from a character standpoint. This might’ve not been the Thor the majority of fans wanted to see, but... that was the point! What they did with him worked for me in every way. Honestly, he was fun to watch and Hemsworth once again delivered a great performance that gave him the chance to show more of his range.

Now whatever the future has in store for Hemsworth and his character in the MCU, I totally am excited and intrigued to see what comes next. And whether or not he’ll be the future leader of the Avengers, to see Hemsworth as Thor in more future MCU projects would just be great.

Wooow it’s like you have read my mind with this post. Really it’s all so true.

And definitely agree with Chris Hemsworth showing more of his acting range, that ain’t just a pretty face for the MCU. With Thor not in shape we were more able to appreciate the guy can really act that he has great dramatic and comedic chops.

Plus Chris is a guy really interested in experimenting with his characters, did you know the original idea was getting Thor back in shape almost at the end but he convinced the Russo Brothers to not do that.

While I do praise Chris Hemsworth a lot for his performance in endgame I also give a lot of credit to the Russo brothers who I feel like they are huge actors directors.

Most of the MCU actors have given their best performances in the MCU directed by them. RDJ was also great in the first Iron Man directed by John Fabreau and Kenneth Branagh also did a great job directing Chris Hemsworth in Thor but the Russo brothers understand all the cast the best.
