Any thoughts on Cap's de-cap-itation?

Markus & McFeely just disclosed an Endgame plot point they'd considered

Thanos uses his home-made Pym particles & temporal GPS to travel back to 2012 and destroy the earth

When he arrives in 2023, he tosses 2012 Captain America's head at the current Avengers

I think it'd be totally gratuitous, myself. It shows Thanos "off-message" for one thing - he's supposedly all about the stones and his mission, not revenge.

Admittedly, he reveals his vindictive side in the final battle, but why have him take an entire detour just to prove he's a dick?

Seems a little harsh. These are still kids movies.

It's interesting, but I didn't know where it would fit in the movie. It doesn't seem out of character for Thanos though. In Infinity war he was more of a sympathetic antagonist, but in Endgame he seemed a lot more like a traditional villain. Probably because the past version of him found out he accomplished his goal and was mad that the Avengers were trying so hard to stop him.

I don't like that. I like that Cap got a happy ending in an alternate universe where he got to be with Peggy. Also this isn't an R rated movie where you can show a severed head.
