Just in - Avengers 5?

First post here. Couldn't resist to share after reading.

"According to a thread on Reddit, a user named MarvelScoopMaster has revealed that there is one more part lined up in the series and said, “There will be a 5th Avengers.” He is the same user who revealed the information about Captain Marvel 2."

Any substance in this?

I figure with all the money these movies make, of course there will be. It will be part of phase 4, not sure how many of our favorites will be in it, certainly not Cap or IronMan

reply

Phase 4 Avengers movie is a certainty but i somehow got an impression that this may directly follow endgame.. Thats something which is not needed but still will be awesome to have

There's no reason to not have another Avengers movie, the team will just have to recruit some new members. The comic book version of the team has had many lineups that didn't include Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, etc.

reply

I was hoping (or reading too much into it) that 5 might follow endgame without recruiting new members.. Doesn't look like it now when i gave it more thought but that's what i thought initially while posting

Other than Infinity War and Endgame, none of the Avengers films have been direct continuations of one another. The only reason Infinity War and Endgame were is because they're two different parts of the same story. At the end there's no longer a threat so that storyline is wrapped up.

Now would be the perfect time to add The Fantastic Four and The X-men, now that Tony, Black Widow and Cap are gone.

I feel like anyone could've guessed this to be honest with how much of a juggernaut the franchise is. It's not that big of a surprise. Neither is a second Captain Marvel because of how successful her solo film was as well as her becoming a flagship character.

reply

Agreed but I think Captain Marvel (and Black Panther) were average films which became big because of lot of other factors. One of them being released just before event films like Infinity War and Endgame. Not sure if a sequel will be as or even half as big box office wise. Unless they have another trick up their sleeves.

Although any sequel to Avengers is a guaranteed blockbuster.

I don't think being released before Endgame is that big of a factor considering Ant-Man and the Wasp did as well and it didn't do nearly as well as Captain Marvel. To be honest at this point, I think most of the origin stories are rather average.

reply

Black Panther and Wasp are the only two Marvel movies i didn't watch in theatres. I guess I had superhero fatigue (or theatre fatigue in general - too much disturbance).
But I was so psyched for Endgame after Infinity War that I ended up watching Captain Marvel in theatre in its 2nd week. I am sure many people watched CM in anticipation of her role in Endgame.
All Marvel movies do good (and they are all average to awesome in my opinion content wise) but some do exceptionally well due to some marketing gimmick attached to it which works. I think same thing happened with CM & BP.

But yes, how big a factor any of this is hard to judge.

I think Black Panther was really good. The action in it was excellent and pretty good peace
